Cheers Dal but I don't think I would ever have the confidence, knowing me I would do the whole wedding with the lens cap still on my camera
It is a pity that that house has been left to deteriorate so badly, but sadly a lot of that area the camping site and caravan site just seems to have been abandoned, it is certainly becoming an eyesore.

I think you have to part of the club to use its facilities. |
You may have to be in the Cricket Club to use the cricket pitch but the tennis courts and putting green are open to the public I am sure...it is just that no one knows they are there _________________ To write with a broken pencil...is pointless. |

It has been all work and no play for awhile but at last I have got a few days off. Although saying that we did manage a day trip to Felixstowe last week (no bikes, went by train ). Paid a visit to Landguard Fort which is situated at the mouth of the Orwell and was built to protect Harwich. The first fort was constructed in 1540 and there was a military presence there until the 1960's. It greatest day came in 1667 when 1500 Dutchmen landed and attacked but they were sent packing by Nathaniel Darrell and his 400 musketeers and 100 artillerymen...they sent the Dutch back to Holland with a clip around the ear and told them not to do it again
It is not the best museum in the world for exhibitions of 'old stuff' etc. but the buildings were great, weird architecture and long spooky tunnels to explore. It was a grey day whilst we were there which made the place look more dark and menacing and the atmosphere more spookyish...

That sounds like a cool place to visit Lem, I like decaying and creepy buildings! I hope you took loads of photos.
I saw some interesting images of Redsands sea forts on Flickr last night. I know they are miles away from here, but are almost "on topic" and were something I had never seen before.

There is something 'War Of The Worldish' about them Lou. I hate links to Flickr as it is one of those sites that once there I can't drag myself away and I spend hours looking at photos instead of doing what I should be doing
My legs ache at the moment, to much cycling these last couple of days...or maybe I am just getting to old...so it is time for my Ovaltine and then to bed.
New month tomorrow Tempus Fugit and all that...

The last Bank Holiday of the year has been and gone and so has August, and I am also led to believe that the Summer is finally over, I came to this conclusion because twice in the last couple of days I have heard a BBC weatherman mention the word 'Autumnal' as in "The weather has an autumnal feel about it"…but I am not going to put away the sunscreen or my shades just yet because I think we have still got a good few good days left. Whilst on the subject Autumnal is one of my favourite words, I think it has just got a nice 'feel' about it
On Sunday I cycled to Beccles to climb the Clock Tower, have climbed it before but the last time it was grey wet and windy, it was still windy this time but at least there was a bit of sun and blue sky and the views were a lot better. The climb isn't to bad, there is a hundred steps to get you up the ninety seven feet but you can have a rest in the bell chamber (no bats or humpty backed monsters but evidence of pigeons having been present).
It was also Beccles Carnival Procession so I hung around for that, not seen a carnival for a few years and I quite enjoyed it. The time and effort people put into organising and taking part in these events is often overlooked and I was pleased that the weather stayed fine for them and there were lots of people there to enjoy the procession.
Susan and I both had the Bank Holiday Monday off so we went out on our bikes to Bungay via Beccles, Geldeston, Ellingham Mill and Mettingham. Had a little wander around once we got there, Bungay was quite quiet on Monday although we did find a Chinese Chip shop open so we had flish and chips for our lunch, very nice too. It was good cycling weather and the fresh air and exercise done us both good…I ended up with achy legs and Susan had a sore…well I won't go into that but we are both fit and well today.

WOHA bugay was open? ah well it was a bank holiday.
But looking out of that bell tower its nice to see those houses are still looking good
Its worth noting that Beccles didn't have any fireworks this year.. i guess funding was cut? At least they had all the other events. _________________

I take it you helped to make them look good Meph
The last week or so has been a bit of a weird time; I am supposed to be on my annual holiday but it has been a stay at home and spend the holiday money decorating and having a new bathroom suite fitted vacation this year. Just about all done, the actual decorating didn't go quite to plan (does anything ever?) but that bit of the job is finished now. Got a new window in and just waiting now for the bathroom fitter to come and do the fitting and tiling just in time for me to go back to work…never mind there is always next year for a holiday
Will be nice just to get back to normal, at the moment I am sharing my 'office' with a bath, sink and toilet, the cat loves it and has been using the new bath to sleep in and she also likes to curl up on the new toilet seat. Think Susan has got a bit cheesed off with the amount of dust that I have generated , no sooner does she dust than another layer of dust miraculously appears from nowhere
Have had a couple of days out here and there. Beccles Carnival day, Brampton Plough Day and we visited Africa Alive in Kessingland just the other day, that was a good day out with plenty of animals to see and quite a few chances of getting some photos of the animals. Here is a couple...

Shame to have had to spend your time off decorating Lem, but bound to be worth it when you have a nice new bath to take a soak in.
Tales of your excursions and the accompanying photos are always great to see. I love the animal shots you have got just recently. _________________

Glad you enjoy looking at the pictures Debby. Hope everything is well with you, pleased to see you are still popping in now and again and you haven't forgotten about us on the 'Sunrise Coast'...and it has actually been the sunrise coast the last couple of days, we have been enjoying a bit of an Indian Summer _________________ To write with a broken pencil...is pointless. |

Life has been plodding along just fine lately, no major upheavals or catastrophes to report (hang on a minute while I just find a bit of wood to touch…) decorating and DIY are just an unhappy memory, although saying that I had a bit of flat-pack furniture to put together today as Susan had volunteered my services to our neighbour who is away at the moment saying I would do it before she came home. All was fine until I got to the drawer, the final part of the cupboard and found out I had a wonky knob; no way would it go on, the thread was kaput. But all was not lost, Susan went and nicked one off a made up cupboard in Godfreys no she didn't really, she explained to the shop assistant the problem and he took it off for her, so I got that put on when she came home and at last I can get into my neighbour's drawers alright. We had bought a similar cupboard at Godfreys recently and although it was made in China to my surprise it was still a very good quality piece of furniture, and more importantly the instructions were easy to follow and also I didn't have any bits left over when I had finished.
Talking of China brings me to Japan (these blogs are not just thrown together you know), I was in Norwich the other day and outside the Forum was a young Japanese girl cooking a Japanese barbeque to advertise the 'Sakura', a Japanese BBQ restaurant or as they say in Tokyo, a Yaki-Niku Restaurant, the first of its kind in East Anglia. It smelt good, so I dug into some beef and chicken and nearly the squid but I didn't really like the look of that so I gave the seafood a miss, but the other stuff and the sauces were superb, and so was the young lady cook who let me take a couple of pictures…the 'Sakura' is at 5 White Lion Street, Norwich.
Miss 'Sakura'
I had a really good day in Norwich, just me and my camera wandering around quite aimlessly which was a joy as I saw parts of Norwich that I had never seen. Took loads of pictures but haven't got round yet to sorting them all out, their numbers are sure to be whittled right down when I do.
These last couple of weeks I have had a voluntary reduction in the number of hours spent on my computer and have enjoyed the break, I have read more, read a book on Shakespeare by Bill Bryson have delved into a dictionary put together by Bill Bryson and I am just about to start a book of short stories called 'Just After Sunset' by Stephen King. I have also found time to watch a bit of TV, but I am not impressed with the majority of programmes on the box and if it wasn't for some of the old detective series I like and some of the sport and documentary programmes as well as the news I think I could get rid of my TV.
Probably the last blog for September, October, here we come….

It looks like October got missed out this blogging year...never mind I will try not to miss it next year
Just a quick blog to get a foothold into November. I took about fifty shots of the Remembrance Service today and I took them all within twenty minutes, was having a bit of trouble with the exposure levels but 'chimping' on the back they seemed OK...seemed OK is not the same as OK as I found out when I downloaded them and realised all the pictures were taken using ISO 1600...the noisiest pictures I have ever taken
Next port of call, opticians
Salvaged a couple...might be alright in mono
